General Information
Webinar Overview
Many communities throughout Washington State are grappling with a housing supply problem, with construction of new accessory dwelling units (ADUs) being viewed as one part of the broader solution. ADUs have been around for decades in many parts of Washington, and state law requires a significant number of our state’s cities and counties to have adopted regulations encouraging new ADUs in single-family zones.
The number of ADUs created in accordance with local standards has remained relatively low, however, due in part to the difficulty in meeting those regulations and the associated costs related to them. This webinar will highlight four local governments that have revised their regulations and programs, in order to increase the construction of new ADUs.
