This is the second webinar in our Procurement Series. Part 1 focused on purchased services and can be viewed by visiting our On-Demand Webinars page. This webinar, Part 2, will focus on considerations and practices related to personal services.
“Personal service” is not defined in state law for the majority of local government agencies. However, there is a definition in RCW 53.19.010 (specific to port districts) that is useful to describe this type of service, as summarized here: “professional or technical expertise provided by a consultant to accomplish a specific study, project, task, or other work statement which may not reasonably be required in connection with a public works project.”
Personal services are mostly intellectual in nature and usually tailored to the unique needs of each organization. Examples include, but are not limited to:
