General Information
Webinar Overview
Disclosure of juvenile and child records is controlled by many different laws, not just the Public Records Act (PRA). Navigating the different laws that apply to records of juvenile offenders, child victims, child welfare recipients, and other records that may mention children can be a minefield. Balancing the privacy interests of children with the strong public disclosure obligations of the PRA can leave public records officers in a tight place. Join us for our PRA Deep Dive webinar, which feature public records professionals tackling thorny issues—like child records, law enforcement and/or personnel records—and discussing common challenges.
Educational Objectives
This webinar will dive into how the Public Records Act and other laws apply to the different types of juvenile and child records held by agencies, explore what records or information may be exempt (including how to clarify when it is unclear) and review requirements as well as best practices for managing public records requests for such material. Extra time is allotted for questions and answers, and registrants are invited to submit questions in advance.
